The South Hedland New Living program is an integrated series of urban renewal projects designed to transform this vital Pilbara community.
With sustainability, functionality and aesthetics in mind the South Hedland New Living Urban Renewal is a partnership between the Department of Housing (DOH) and the Town of Port Hedland with JAXON employed to project manage the 7 year program.
The objectives are to:
Reduce the public housing density
Refurbish housing for retention by DOH and sale to tenants and the general public
Beautification of streets , parks and other public areas within South Hedland
Increase opportunities for home ownership
Develop land for new residential housing
The creation of a vibrant and integrated community
On completion, the $100-million New Living Project in South Hedland will have delivered more than 500 lots and refurbished around 480 houses, with more than 30 percent of those being sold to the general public. Plus provided new community facilities for sport and recreation.
